Pittman Sentenced Robbery Spree Nets 609 Month Prison Term
Greensboro, N.C. – An individual responsible for multiple robberies in Davidson, Rowan and Cabarrus Counties, North Carolina, was sentenced yesterday on nine federal offenses including robbery and firearms violations, announced John W. Stone, Jr., Acting United States Attorney.
TAJ MAURICE PITTMAN, age 34, of Charlotte, NC was sentenced October 14, 2010, by United States District Court Judge Thomas D. Schroeder to 609 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release.
PITTMAN was convicted on January 7, 2010 after a three day trial on all charges arising from the following acts committed in the Middle District of North Carolina:
- June 17, 2008 robbery of SunTrust Bank in Concord, NC.
- November 7, 2008 robbery of Wachovia, 1501 South Cannon Street in Kannapolis, NC.
- January 16, 2009 robbery of a General Nutrition Center (GNC) store in Concord, NC.
- January 18, 2009 robbery of a GNC store in Salisbury, NC.
- January 18, 2009 robbery of a GNC store in Lexington, NC.
The investigation in this case was conducted by Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Police Departments of Concord, Kannapolis, Salisbury, Charlotte, and Lexington, North Carolina, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
