Ripley Eagles Rand Confirmed As United States Attorney - Senate Voted and Unanimously Confirmed
Washington, D.C. – The United States Senate voted Friday night and, with unanimous consent, confirmed Ripley Eagles Rand as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina. Mr. Rand is expected to be officially sworn in by a United States District Court Judge in the near future, but the date is not yet set.
In Raleigh, Mr. Rand said today, “I am very honored to have been nominated and now confirmed, and I am looking forward to working with and serving the people of the Middle District."
Mr. Rand has been a Superior Court Judge for the State of North Carolina since 2002. Prior to that, Mr. Rand worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Tenth Prosecutorial District of North Carolina from 1997 to 2002. From 1996 to 1997, Mr. Rand was a judicial clerk for the Honorable James A. Beaty, Jr., the current Chief United States District Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina. Following law school, he was a research assistant for the Honorable Burley B. Mitchell, Jr., then Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, from 1995 to 1996. Mr. Rand is a 1990 graduate of the University of North Carolina and a 1995 honors graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law.
