Offense Draws 17-½ Year Sentence, 25 Years Supervised Release

Greensboro, N.C. – An individual who pleaded guilty to production and distribution of child pornography was sentenced today, announced United States Attorney Ripley Rand.

Rodger Vance Hanson, 45, of Concord, North Carolina, was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge N. Carlton Tilley, Jr., to 210 months in prison to be followed by 25 years of supervised release. Hanson’s residence and computer equipment were also forfeited to the government.

Investigators searched Hanson’s home on January 13, 2010, after detecting child pornography being shared online from Hanson’s IP address. They found hundreds of images and videos of child pornography, including photographs taken by Hanson of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anand P. Ramaswamy.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
