Members of Drug Organization Get 145 to 440 months

Greensboro, N.C. – United States Attorney Ripley Rand announced today that four members of a Greensboro drug organization known as the “Bundy Boys” have been sentenced by the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.

The defendants:

• Alton Lamont Benn, aka “B” or “Bundy,” age 42
• Kevin Gordon Haith, aka “Smoke,” age 36
• Sean Darnell Jeffries, aka “Fuzz,” age 39
• Robert Eugene Poole, age 52

were found guilty in March of various narcotics and firearms charges after a three-week trial at which more than 50 witnesses testified. Witnesses included Special Agents with the ATF and DEA, officers with the Greensboro, North Carolina, and Orange, Texas, Police Departments, deputies from the Gwinnett County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office, firearms experts with ATF, Certified Lab Technicians with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and “Bundy Boy” co-conspirators.

“The ‘Bundy Boys’ organization, which had been selling drugs throughout Greensboro since at least June 2006, has been shut down by these convictions,” said U.S. Attorney Rand. “Cooperation among law enforcement agencies across the United States led to the arrest and conviction of the Bundy Boys. Those who deal drugs need to know that federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies are working together to keep our citizens and our communities safe.”

Benn was the leader of the organization, which converted approximately 22 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride to cocaine base (crack) and sold it in its many “drug houses” in East Greensboro. All four defendants were convicted of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Haith and Jeffries were also convicted of one count each of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and Haith was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Jeffries was also convicted of possession of 11.5 grams of cocaine base (crack) with intent to sell or deliver.

Alton Benn was sentenced on June 26, 2012, to 440 months imprisonment, to be followed by a five-year term of supervised release.

Sean Jeffries was sentenced on September 19, 2012, to a total of 360 months imprisonment, to be followed by a five-year term of supervised release.

Robert Poole was sentenced on September 19, 2012, to a total term of 145 months, concurrent with a sentence he is already serving, resulting in a remaining balance of 114 months, followed by a four-year term of supervised release.

Kevin Haith was sentenced on October 10, 2012, to a total term of 380 months, concurrent with a sentence he is already serving, resulting in a remaining balance of 369 months, to be followed by a five-year term of supervised release.
