
new jersey political consultant admits failing to file income tax returns for three years

NEWARK, N.J. – Hiver Ambroise, a consultant for several election and political action committees based in New Jersey, pleaded guilty today to three counts of failing to file tax returns with the IRS, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Ambroise, 36, of Elizabeth, N.J., who waived his right to a trial, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph A. Dickson in Newark federal court to an Information charging him with three counts of failing to file a tax return.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:
During the period in question, Ambroise had as a primary source of income fees from consulting services rendered to various election and political committees based in New Jersey. He also earned income from two companies located in Red Bank, N.J., and North Bergen, N.J. During calendar years 2008, 2009 and 2010, Ambroise received more than $280,000 in income and failed to file tax returns with the IRS for the same years.
The counts to which Ambroise pleaded guilty each carry a maximum potential penalty of one year in prison plus applicable fines and court costs. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2013.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents with IRS-Criminal Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Victor W. Lessoff, with the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea.

Attorney’s Office Special Prosecutions Division in Newark.
