Freehold, new jersey man pleads guilty to receipt of child pornography

TRENTON, N.J. – John L. Donahue, Jr., 47, of Freehold, N.J., admitted today to collecting sexually explicit images of children and downloading them from the internet, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Donahue pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson to an Information charging him with one count of receipt of child pornography.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made during Donahue’s guilty plea proceeding in Trenton federal court:
Donahue admitted to receiving images and videos of child pornography by use of a computer and through the internet and possessing them in his residence and his vehicle. Donahue acknowledged that the images and videos of child pornography that he possessed were images and videos that depicted prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
As part of his guilty plea, Donahue agreed to forfeit the computer and computer accessories that he used to commit the offense.
The count to which Donahue pleaded guilty carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The count also carries a maximum fine of $250,000 and a mandatory minimum term of five years of supervised release. Donahue is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2, 2011.
U.S. Attorney Fishman praised Postal Inspectors of the United States Postal Inspection
Service, under the direction of Postal Inspector in Charge Philip R. Bartlett in Newark, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Prosecutor Peter E. Warshaw, Jr., with the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jane H. Yoon of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark.
