Las Vegas, Nev. – Victor Lara Gonzalez of Jalisco, Mexico, was sentenced on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, to 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release for his convictions on drug trafficking and immigration charges announced Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Gonzalez, 23, pleaded guilty on September 29, 2009, to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and unlawful re-entry into the United States following deportation.

Gonzalez was arrested in Las Vegas on April 11, 2009, following his delivery of approximately four ounces of methamphetamine with a purity level of 89 percent to a residence in Las Vegas. Gonzalez had been previously deported from the United States on December 7, 2006, following a 2006 narcotics conviction in Napa County, California.

The case was investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad Giles.
