Las Vegas, Nev. – A man who admitted to killing a woman at the Moulin Rouge apartments on Christmas Day 2002 during an argument over an arrangement to distribute crack cocaine, was sentenced today to 19½ years in federal prison and five years of supervised release, announced Daniel G. Bogden, U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Corey Thompson, 43, currently in custody, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Philip M. Pro. Thompson pleaded guilty on July 20, 2012, to using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to drug trafficking crimes resulting in death.

On the early morning of Dec. 25, 2002, Thompson was in Arlene McMillian's room at the Moulin Rouge Apartments in downtown Las Vegas. McMillian sold drugs from the room on behalf of Thompson and others. Thompson and McMillian became involved in an argument over their drug trafficking arrangement, and Thompson placed a .25 caliber handgun to McMillian's head and fired the gun, killing McMillian.

The case was investigated by the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas D. Dickinson.
