Benton J. Campbell, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, and Loretta King, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, announced that Brian Carranza pled guilty this morning before United States District Judge Carol B. Amon in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, to conspiring to assault African-American residents in Staten Island, New York, in retaliation for President Barack Obama’s election victory. Carranza, who is 21 years old, faces a maximum sentence of 10 years of imprisonment.
