Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, today announced that a federal grand jury in Cleveland, Ohio, returned an indictment against Jeremy D. Bricker, age 29, of Akron, Ohio for smuggling drug paraphernalia into the United States.

Bricker drew the attention of Immigration and Customs officials when he received two shipments of 2,015 glass pipes used to smoke illegal narcotics that were shipped to him from Kathmandu, Nepal via DHL Express. Through surveillance, it was learned that Bricker was the proprietor of Peace Full Products a “retail and wholesale” business located on Kenmore Boulevard.

The indictment resulted from an investigation conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Summit County Drug Task Force and the City of Akron Police Department. The case was presented for indictment by Assistant United States Attorney Linda H. Barr.

If convicted, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
