
Labor Leasing Business Owner Arrested On Tax Charges
Kealey Som, 51, of Philadelphia, was charged in a four-count Indictment, unsealed today, with one count of obstructing and impeding the IRS in its administration of the tax code and with three counts of failing to file corporate tax returns, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The information specifically charges Som with operating a labor leasing business that collected millions of dollars in payments for employee wages while failing to report those employees to the IRS and while failing to pay social security, medicare, and federal income taxes on account of those.
If convicted defendant Kealey Som faces a maximum possible sentence of 6 years imprisonment, a one year period of supervised release, a special assessment of $175 and restitution.
The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul G. Shapiro.
