Philadelphia Man Charged With Hobbs Act Robbery And Carjacking
Gregory Ray, 18, of Philadelphia, was charged by indictment with Hobbs Act robbery, carjacking, and use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment charges that Ray committed these offenses in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on or about March 17, 2012.
If convicted of all charges, Ray faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years imprisonment consecutive to any other sentence. Ray also faces a maximum period of supervised release of five years, a $750,000 fine, and a $300 special assessment.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney V. Paige Pratter.
