Philadelphia pair charged in drug Conspiracy

Jose Anthony Ramos-Cedeno, 32, and Victor Marrero, 39, both of Philadelphia, were charged today by Indictment with conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine and with attempted possession of 500 grams or more of cocaine with intent to distribute and aiding and abetting, announced U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger. The Indictment charges that from at least June 5, 2012 to October 5, 2012, the defendants distributed at least 20 kilograms of cocaine in the Philadelphia area.

If convicted of all counts, Ramos-Cedeno and Marrero each faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, including a 20-year mandatory minimum prison sentence, a fine of up to $28 million, at least ten years up to lifetime supervised release, and a $200 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sozi Pedro Tulante.
