Wen Wang, 40, of Quakertown, PA was charged today by Information with five counts of filing a false tax return, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Wang faces a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment. Wang also faces a $500,000 fine and a $500 special assessment.

The information charges that between 2006 and 2010, Wang, who owned and operated a Chinese food restaurant in Quakertown, used his business to pay for personal living expenses, including his home mortgage and personal real estate taxes, and skimmed cash from the restaurant’s receipts that he failed to disclose on his tax returns. The information further charges that during this time period, Wang filed five false tax returns on which he failed to declare a total of over $216,000 in income that he had earned from the operation of his restaurant.

The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael S. Lowe.
