
Indictment Alleges Food Stamp Fraud
Milhem Abuali , 26, of Philadelphia, PA, was charged today by Indictment with food stamp fraud, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The Indictment alleges that in 2009, 2010, and 2011, Abuali, an employee at Best Way Supermarket, located at 5131 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, exchanged food stamp benefits for cash.
If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 25 years imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, a $50,000 fine, and $500 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of the Inspector General, and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank R. Costello, Jr.
