bryn mawr man Charged With fraud on the government

Emmitt R. O. Jackson III, a/k/a “Emmitt Jackson,” 58, of Bryn Mawr, PA, was charged today by Indictment in connection with his alleged scheme to collect Social Security Administration Disability Insurance Benefits while concealing his work activity and income, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Jackson is charged with 56 counts of mail fraud, one count of theft of government funds, and two counts of Social Security fraud.

According to the indictment, the defendant received the Disability Insurance Benefits for himself and a dependent child while concealing and failing to report that he was working. This resulted in a loss to the government of approximately $90,920.80.

If convicted, Jackson faces a substantial term of imprisonment; 3 years of supervised release, a fine of up to $14.75 million, a $5,900 special assessment and restitution of $90,920.80.

The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Amanda R. Reinitz.
