Gun & Drug Charges Filed Against philadelphia man
Jermaine Trippett, 35, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged today by Indictment with distribution of cocaine base (“crack”), possession with the intent to distribute cocaine base, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment charges that between February 15, 2011 and February 23, 2011, in Philadelphia, Trippett distributed cocaine base (“crack”) on three occasions, possessed cocaine base (“crack”) which he intended to distribute, and possessed one loaded .380 Bryco Arms semi-automatic handgun with an obliterated serial number, in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, after having been convicted of a felony.
If convicted of all counts, Trippett faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with a mandatory five year minimum sentence consecutive to any other sentence imposed, a fine of up to $8.5 million, up to lifetime supervised release, and a $600 special assessment.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Philadelphia Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. Zaleski.
