philadelphia man Charged With sex trafficking of children
Craig Johnson, 41, a/k/a “Geez,” of Philadelphia, PA, was charged by Indictment, unsealed today, with two counts of sex trafficking of minors, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. According to the indictment, Johnson operated of a prostitution venture in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As part of that venture, in June of 2012, Johnson recruited young females, two of whom were under the age of 18, to work as prostitutes. He also allegedly created Internet advertisements in which he advertised various females as available for purchase for purposes of prostitution. These advertisements featured pictures of the prostitutes, either scantily clad or partially nude, the price for an encounter, and a phone number to call to arrange a meeting with a prostitute.
If convicted, the defendant faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment and a maximum sentence of lifetime imprisonment on each count, a $500,000 fine, a lifetime period of supervised release and a $200 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department Special Victims Unit, with assistance from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle L. Morgan.
