Montgomery county man charged with unauthorized access of a computer
Thomas Bofinger, 49, of Meadow Brook, Pennsylvania, was charged today by information with one count each of unauthorized computer access, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.
According to the information, Bofinger accessed the computer files of his former employer in order competing for contracts for commercial advantage. Bofinger allegedly accessed Rihl’s computer files approximately 70 times between December 2009 and March 2010.
If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of five years’ in prison, a three-year period of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joel D. Goldstein.
