Judge Sentences Felon To 8 Years In Prison For Possessing Firearm
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, April 6, 2010, that Shalen Thomas, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 105 months imprisonment followed by 3 years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal firearm laws.
Senior United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch imposed the sentence on Thomas, age 25.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller, Thomas knowingly possessed a firearm on April 25, 2008, after having been convicted of a felony crime punishable by imprisonment for a term greater than one year.
Mr. Cessar commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Pittsburgh Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Thomas.
