
Butler Man Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Offense
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, April 8, 2010, that David J. Wood, a resident of Butler, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of possession of child pornography.
Wood, age 34, pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
In connection with the guilty plea, Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman advised the court that on June 25, 2009, Wood possessed child pornography.
Judge Fischer scheduled sentencing for August 6, 2010. The law provides for a total sentence of ten (10) years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of David J. Wood.
