Jury Finds Penn Hills Man Enticed Minor To Engage In Sexual Conduct
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, April 14, 2010, that, after deliberating 6 hours, Robert Pawlowski was convicted by a jury of violating federal child exploitation laws.
Pawlowski, age 48, of Penn Hills Township, Pennsylvania, was tried before United States District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller, who prosecuted the case, the evidence presented at trial established that Pawlowski used a computer and the internet and a cellular telephone in an attempt to entice a minor into engaging in illegal sexual conduct.
Judge Ambrose scheduled sentencing for August 11, 2010, at 2:00. The law provides for a total sentence of at least 10 years and up to life in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based on the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pittsburgh High Tech Crimes Task Force, and the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Pawlowski.
