Westmoreland County Man Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison For Possessing Child Pornography
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Youngwood, Penn., has been sentenced in federal court to 12 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release on his conviction of child pornography crimes, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Chief United States District Judge Gary L. Lancaster imposed the sentence on Timothy John Murphy, 26.
According to information presented to the court, Murphy collected in excess of a thousand images of child pornography on his laptop computer, including images of infants and children who were bound and subjected to violent sexual assault. At the time of his federal offense in 2007, Murphy was on parole for Indecent Assault of a 5‑year‑old child in Fayette County, Penn.
Assistant United States Attorney Soo C. Song prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Greensburg Police Department and the Westmoreland County Bureau of Detectives for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Murphy.
