Pittsburgh Man Charged With Heroin Possession
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A Pittsburgh man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for violating federal narcotics trafficking laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The one‑count indictment names Michael Lowry, 27, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment, on Nov. 7, 2009, Lowry possessed heroin with intent to distribute it.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.
The Coraopolis Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police investigated the case leading to the indictment of Lowry.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
