Clairton Man Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Clairton, Pa., pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal drug laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Jeffery Carter, 21, pleaded guilty to three counts before United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on March 10, 2008, Carter possessed with intent to distribute 41.67 grams of cocaine, on Jan. 22, 2008, Carter possessed with intent to distribute 19.2 grams of crack, on Oct. 12, 2007, Carter possessed with intent to distribute 5.64 grams of crack , and on March 15, 2007, Carter possessed with intent to distribute 90.65 grams of crack.
Judge Fischer scheduled sentencing for April 15, 2011. The law provides for a total sentence of 100 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Almon S. Burke, Jr. is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Clairton Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Jeffrey Carter.
