Altoona Man Sentenced To Prison, Ordered To Pay Restitution For Converting Government Benefits To His Own Use

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. ‑ A former resident of Altoona, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to 15 months in prison, three years supervised release, and ordered to pay $49,840 restitution to the Social Security Administration on his conviction of conversion of government property, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Kim R Gibson imposed the sentence on Robert R. Gill, Sr., 54.

According to information presented to the court, from November 2004 through April 2009 Gill converted to his own use 54 Supplemental Security Income benefit payments totaling $49,840 that he was not entitled to.

Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Office of Inspector General of the Social Security Administration for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Gill.
