Jeannette Woman Sentenced To Prison For Counterfeit Check Scheme
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, July 9, 2010, that Traci Denise Davis, a resident of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 14 months imprisonment, to run concurrent with her state court sentence, on her conviction of Conspiracy to Pass Counterfeit checks.
Chief United States District Judge Gary L. Lancaster imposed the sentence on Davis, age 26.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci, Davis participated in a criminal conspiracy in which she provided individuals that she had recruited with counterfeit checks that those individuals passed at various Giant Eagle stores throughout the Pittsburgh area. After those individuals passed the counterfeit checks, they provided a portion of the proceeds of the checks to Davis.
Mr. Cessar commended the United States Postal Inspection Service and the United States Secret Service, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Police Department and the Forest Hills Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Traci Denise Davis.
