FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 16, 2010

PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, July 16, 2010, that Gino F. Scatena has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to serve 10 months in prison, to be followed by one year of supervised release.  Scatena was further ordered to arrange for full payment of taxes, penalties and interest to the Internal Revenue Service on his conviction of failing to file a tax return.

United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed the sentence on Scatena.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch, Scatena unlawfully failed to file a personal income tax return with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the calendar year 2004, a year in which Scatena had gross income from the operation of Scatena Concrete and Building of over $250,000.00. Scatena further accepted responsibility for failing to file personal tax returns for the years 2002, 2003, and 2005.  The tax loss to the IRS for the calendar years in question has been calculated to be $210,540.00.

Mr. Cessar commended the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Scatena.
