McCandless Township Man Sentenced For Role In Marijuana Distribution Ring
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, July 26, 2010, that on July 23, 2010, Hau Duy Bach, a resident of McCandless Township, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 12 months and one day in prison and three years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal drug laws.
United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Hau Duy Bach, age 21, of Allison Park, Pennsylvania.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory J. Nescott, Bach was a local distributor for an American/Canadian drug organization that smuggled hundreds of pounds of high‑quality marijuana across the Canadian border and into Western Pennsylvania between 2004 and 2008. Fourteen other American and Canadian citizens have been charged in this case.
Mr. Cessar commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration (Pittsburgh and Buffalo), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Cleveland), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Greater Toronto Area Drug Section, the Asian Organized Crime Task Force of Ontario, and the Canada Border Services Agency, along with the Internal Revenue Service‑Criminal Investigation, United States Postal Inspection Service, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the City of Pittsburgh Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Hau Duy Bach.
