Pittsburgh Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Drug, Gun Law Violations
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, June 1, 2010, that Maceo Glenn Watkins, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 10 years in prison followed by 5 years supervised release for violating federal narcotics and firearms laws.
United States District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose imposed the sentence on Watkins, age 31.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller, on January 22, 2008, Watkins possessed eight grams of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it. At that time, Watkins also possessed a .357 caliber pistol in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Watkins was taken into custody at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing.
Mr. Cessar commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office Violent Crime and Firearm Task Force, and the Pittsburgh Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Watkins.
