
Pittsburgh Woman Sentenced For Passing Counterfeit Payroll Check
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, June 24, 2010, that on June 23, 2010, Janene Mahone, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to three years probation and ordered to pay $973.27 in restitution on her conviction of passing a counterfeit payroll check at a Giant Eagle store.
Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond imposed the sentence on Mahone, age 30.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Luke E. Dembosky, on July 27, 2007, Mahone passed a counterfeit payroll check at a Giant Eagle store.
Mr. Cessar commended the United States Postal Inspection Service and the United States Secret Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Mahone.
