Jury Convicts Darlington Man On Tax Charge
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, June 30, 2010, that after deliberating 2 hours, a jury of 5 men and 7 women found Edward Siceloff guilty of one count of failure to file a tax return.
Siceloff, age 57, of Darlington, Pennsylvania, was tried before Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Shaun E. Sweeney, who prosecuted the case, the evidence presented at trial established that during 2004, Siceloff received income in the amount of approximately $763,926.00, but failed to file his income tax return for that year.
Judge Diamond scheduled sentencing for October 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. The law provides for a total sentence of 1 year in prison, a fine of $100,000.00, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based on the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The Internal Revenue Service conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Siceloff.
