Felon Sentenced To Prison For Illegally Possessing A Firearm
PITTSBURGH, Pa - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, March 22, 2010, that Gerald Lee Williams, Jr., a former resident of Mercer County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to 57 months in prison, to be followed by three years supervised release, on his conviction of violating the federal firearms laws.
Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill imposed the sentence on Gerald Lee Williams Jr., age 43, formerly of Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti, on March 20, 2008, in the Western District of Pennsylvania, Williams illegally possessed a firearm. Williams has four prior state court felony convictions, and federal law prohibits him from possessing a gun.
Mr. Cessar commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Sharon Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Gerald Lee Williams, Jr.
