El Salvadoran Sentenced For Immigration Violation
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, May 13, 2010, that William Guerrero, of El Salvador, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to time served followed by one year supervised release. Guerrero was remanded to the custody of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") after his conviction of violating federal immigration laws.
United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed sentence on Guerrero, age 30.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney A. Elliot McLean, Guerrero, an alien from El Salvador, was removed from the United States on April 19, 2002, and then reentered the United States and was found in Mercer County on or about February 19, 2010, without having applied for and received permission from either the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary.
Mr. Cessar commended the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Pittsburgh Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Guerrero.
