Meadville Man Sentenced To 83 Months In Prison For Transporting Child Pornography
ERIE, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, May 21, 2010, that Nathan Troup, a resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Erie to eighty-three months in jail and ten years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
United States District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin imposed the sentence on Troup, age 29.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold, Troup transported via e-mail computer images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Launched in February 2006, Project Safe Childhood is a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. Mr. Cessar commended the Pennsylvania State Police and the Vernon Township Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Troup.
