Washington Man Pleads Guilty To Distributing Crack Cocaine
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Washington, Pa., pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Douglas Yohdale Cochran, 32, pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on Aug. 27, 2008, Cochran distributed and possessed with intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base, in the form commonly known as crack.
Judge McVerry scheduled sentencing for March 25, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. The law provides for a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Charles A. Eberle is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Pennsylvania State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Douglas Yohdale Cochran.
