Illegal Alien Sentenced To Time Served, Turned Over To Ice For Deportation For Re‑Entering U.S. Without Permission

PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Mexico, has pleaded guilty and been sentenced in federal court to time‑served and remanded to the custody of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation for violating federal immigration laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Aarron Diaz-Leal, 25, of Mexico.

According to information presented to the court, Diaz‑Leal, an alien from Mexico, was removed from the United States on Jan. 31, 2008, and April 28, 2009, and then reentered the United States and was found in Indiana County, Pa., on or about June 24, 2010, without having applied for and received permission from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

Assistant United States Attorney A. Elliot McLean prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended ICE and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Diaz‑Leal.
