
Fiduciary Sentenced For Misappropriating Mother's VA Account
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Butler, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to five years probation, six months home confinement, and 400 hours of community service on his conviction of misappropriation by a fiduciary, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Randy Elash, 45.
According to information presented to the court, Elash, while serving as a fiduciary for his mother's Veteran's Affairs account, misappropriated approximately $25,959.15 of money and property coming into his trust and control in the execution of his fiduciary duties.
Assistant United States Attorney Scott W. Brady prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Department of Veteran's Affairs, Office of the Inspector General for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Elash.
