Mckees Rocks Man Pleads Guilty To Violating Drug, Gun Laws
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of McKees Rocks, Penn., pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal drug and firearms laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Michael Law, 38, pleaded guilty to two counts before United States District Judge Gary L. Lancaster.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on Feb. 25, 2010, Law possessed with intent to distribute 4.6 grams of cocaine. Also, on Feb. 25, 2010, Law, a convicted felon, possessed a Hi‑Point rifle. Since Law has previously been convicted of a felony offense, federal law prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
Judge Lancaster scheduled sentencing for Jan. 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. The law provides for a total sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $1,250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Pending sentencing, the court ordered that Law remain detained without bond.

The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Michael Law.
