Alien Charged With Immigration Violation
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A citizen of Mexico, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal immigration laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The one‑count indictment named Filiberto Ramirez‑Villegas, 23, of Mexico, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment, Ramirez‑Villegas, an alien from Mexico, was removed from the United States on Dec. 4, 2008, and April 3, 2009, and then reentered the United States and was found in Allegheny County, Pa., on or about July 28, 2010, without having applied for and received permission from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of two years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Ross Township Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
