Florida Man Charged With Possession, Distribution Of Oxycodone
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Lake Park, Fla., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The two‑count indictment, returned on Sept. 16, 2010, named Dirk Simonton, 31, of Lake Park, Fla., as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment, on April 23, 2010, and again on May 4, 2010, Simonton distributed and possessed with the intent to distribute a quantity of oxycodone.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Almon S. Burke, Jr. is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
