Felon Sentenced To Prison For Illegally Possessing Firearm
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to16 months in prison and three years supervised release for violating federal firearm laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed the sentence on Youa Vue, 34.
According to information presented to the court, Vue knowingly possessed a firearm on July 30, 2008, after having been convicted of a felony crime punishable by imprisonment for a term greater than one year. Federal law prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year to possess a firearm.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Violent Crime and Firearm Task Force, and the Pittsburgh Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Vue.
According to Mr. Hickton, this case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and communities to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crime.
