Washington Felon Sentenced To Prison For Illegal Gun Possession
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Washington, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to 46 months in prison and three years of supervised release on his conviction of violating federal firearms laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch imposed the sentence on Curtis William Thomas Jr., a/k/a Brick, 27.
According to information presented to the court, Thomas, a convicted felon, sold a High Standard .22 caliber revolver to a confidential informant. Thomas was previously convicted in the Court of Common Pleas of Washington County on Sept. 14, 2004, of the crimes of Firearms not to be Carried Without a License and Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. These are crimes that are punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. Federal law prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year to possess a firearm.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Thomas.
This case is was prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.
