Sharon, Mercer County, Receives $14,315 Justice Grant

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The City of Sharon in Mercer County, Penn., has been awarded a $14,315 grant from the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance to support law enforcement initiatives, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

Grant number 2011-DJ-BX-2616 was awarded on Aug. 16, 2011, to Mayor Robert Lucas.

Funds will be used to upgrade currently used pistols and accessories. The goal of the project is to continue to provide exceptional policing service to the community.

The Edward Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime bases on their own state and local needs and conditions.  Grants funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice.
