PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Pittsburgh and former resident of Fairmont, West Virginia, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court to 63 months in prison and three years supervised release for violating federal drug and firearm laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

Michael Tyrone Waller, a/k/a "Stickman", 26, pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts before Senior United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch.

In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that on March 31, 2008, Waller, a convicted felon previously convicted of charges of illegal firearm possession and possessing weapons in prison, unlawfully possessed a loaded .38 Special caliber Colt Revolver and 53 individual stamp bags of heroin marked "shoot them."  Federal law prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year to possess a firearm.

Assistant United States Attorney Ross E. Lenhardt is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Waller.

According to Mr. Hickton, this case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.
