Blair County Woman Sentenced To Probation For Cashing Deceased Son's Benefit Payments
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - A resident of Hollidaysburg, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to three years probation and ordered to pay $4,668.80 in restitution to the Social Security Administration on her conviction of conversion of government property, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Jennifer L. Lingenfelter, 29.
According to information presented to the court, from June 1, to Dec. 30, 2004, Lingenfelter converted to her own use eight Social Security Supplemental Security Income benefit payments, totaling $4,718.80, issued to her on behalf of her son after his death.
Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Social Security Administration/Office of Inspector General for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Lingenfelter.
