
Erie Resident Charged With Making, Passing Counterfeit Cash
ERIE, Pa. ‑ A resident of Erie, Pa., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Erie on charges of violating federal counterfeiting laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The five-count indictment named Davon Shawn Eady, 25, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment presented to the court, Eady falsely made, forged and counterfeited six Federal Reserve notes in denominations of $20.00 and $100.00. In addition, Eady passed counterfeit federal reserve notes to local businesses in Erie.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 100 years in prison, a fine of $1,250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Marshall J. Piccinini is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The United States Secret Service and the Erie Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
