Second Member of Detroit Credit Card Fraud Ring Sentenced
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A Michigan resident has been sentenced in federal court to 15 months in prison and three years supervised release on his conviction of conspiring to use counterfeit credit cards, in violation of federal law, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose imposed the sentence on Corey Deandre Vance, 27, of Inkster, Michigan.
According to information presented to the court, in 2009, Vance conspired with his co-defendants to use counterfeited credit cards at Giant Eagle stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania to buy gift cards. Losses to Giant Eagle totaled more than $70,000.
Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Ambrose noted the seriousness of the crime and the need for just punishment.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Postal Inspection Service and United States Secret Service or the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Vance.
