Turtle Creek Woman Pleads Guilty To Credit Card Fraud Scheme
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Turtle Creek, Pa., pleaded guilty to conspiracy to use counterfeit credit cards, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Shawna Baker, 22, pleaded guilty to one count before Senior United States District Judge Gustave Diamond.
According to the information presented to the court, Baker conspired with her co‑defendants to use counterfeited credit cards at Giant Eagle stores in the Pittsburgh area in February and March 2010, to purchase gift cards.
Judge Diamond scheduled sentencing for October 20, 2010. Baker remains on bond pending her sentencing. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
United States Attorney David J. Hickton commended agents of the United States Secret Service and officers of the Crafton‑Ingram Police Department for conducting the investigation leading to the conviction of Shawna Baker.
