Two Fayette County Men Facing Federal Firearms Charges
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ Two residents of Fayette County, Pa., have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal firearm laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The three‑count indictment, returned on May 17, 2011, named Conrad Blair, 47, of Masontown, Pa., and Jamie Shriver, 42, of Smithfield, Pa., as defendants.
According to the indictment presented to the court, on April 11, 2011, Blair and Shriver, previously convicted felons, unlawfully possessed three firearms. In addition, the indictment alleges that Blair possessed a different firearm on Jan. 14, 2011.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
This case is being prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment or information is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
